This has to be one of the freakiest stories I've heard in Vietnam so far - because it happened to someone I know ... and because it has clouded my vision of Vietnam as a safe country. (OK... it's relatively still safe! You can still walk around in the streets, crawl home drunk, dance like crazy in the clubs and act like a hauty foreigner).
For those of you who are going to use this as an excuse not to come and visit me - I will personally hire someone to stab u! haha
So anyways, my fren n her bf finished their hair cut at a salon and were getting into the car. He opened the door for her to get in first and just at that point in time, a guy walks up from behind him and stabs him. I supposed it happened so quickly n suddenly, they din realise until the blood started splattering and gushing out (like in the movies).
They rushed to the hospital immediately and didn't give chase or get a chance to look at the attacker. The guy had apparently come out of nowhere, attacked him and ran off onto the back of a bike which was waiting for him in front.
We all felt that it couldnt be a coincidence or a case of mistaken identity. Although, freakily, Vietnam was playing against Malaysia in the SEA games... the streets were packed with rowdy bikers (traffic police were everywhere n u can forget abt crossing the roads during this period). My friend is Malaysian.
Still, with the inefficiency of Vietnam, no police came to make a case, hospital was a little retarded in their standards ... But our friend is safe for now - he was stabbed in the abdomen (affected his colon n kidney a little but not enough to cause much damage), slashed on his arm (cut muscle and artery)... Thank God. He will be well again.
Wat a traumatising moment for them!
