This is our first real family holiday (excluding all the trips home to visit family in Singapore, UK and Cairo) and I'm sure it meant as much for Ray as it was for me.

We stayed at the Banyan Tree, Bintan and it was gorgeous!

Cheers to a good holiday!

Karen came on Sunday and spent a night with us (since we had an extra bedroom in our vila). We have been close growing up but with her busy work schedule and me living in Vietnam, we haven't been able to spend as much as time as we would love to
With Ray being a little older, it was more fun to take him along on activities... he's like a little man, ready to join in the fun and absorb all the new things in life

He had his first attempt at Go-Karting and even proudly waved as he passed us

We took a nature walk together and he insisted on walking by himself, picking up leaves and twigs along the way

He was initially afraid of the ocean, crying as soon as he hears the waves tumbling in... but soon put up a brave front as he walked along the beach hand in hand with daddy

the only way to keep him in the water was to distract him with toys to play. He was crying and clinging on so tightly to me otherwise
All in all, I would say Ray had a roaring good time!

Alas, while it may look picture perfect and everyone is all smiles, there was an underlying current and a constant gloom clouding over us. This was not a perfect holiday, just as much as, we are not a perfect family. We continue to be burdened by the sad knowledge and horrifying truths. It doesn't help that we have to come back to face reality ...

And as the sun sets down on us, I will continue to pray for a better tomorrow
